•        Do's of participating in a group discussion:

·      Keep a positive attitude throughout.

·      Mentally be prepared to talk on any given topic.

·      Initiate the discussion if you are familiar with the subject.

·      Listen to others for sometime if you don't know the subject well.

·      Support your point with some facts and figures.

·      Make short contribution from other members.

·      Give others a chance to speak.

·      Keep your eyes and ears open when others speak.

·      Try to read the expressions of others while they speak.

·      Start talking only when your brain is in gear.

·      Have a control on your words and voice.

·      Stay politely and pleasantly.

·      Express your views effectively.

·      Mind your English and body language.

·      Take care of your dress as well.

·      Try to put your body on display.

·      Try to reveal not to conceal.

·      Remind the objective of the discussion when required.

·      Demonstrate all your leadership qualities.

·      Always be alert while you are in a group discussion.

·      Agree with what is right and politely disagree when required.

·      Summarize the discussion when the group has not reached a conclusion.
These are all used in different types of interviews.

•       Don't s of participating in a group discussion:

·      Don't  initiate the discussion when you don't have sufficient knowledge about the topic.

·      Don't over speak, intervene and snatch others chance to speak.

·      Don't start fighting with your team mates.

·      Don't be rigid in a group discussion.

·      Don't panic or lose control over your emotions.

·      Don't look tired, dull or lazy at any time.

·      Don't speak just for the sake of speaking.

·      Don't argue and shout during the group discussion.

·      Don't try to look at the evaluates or try to evaluate other participants.

·      Don't try to distract the discussion by talking irrelevant things.

·      Don't present negative body language.

·      Don't mention erratic statements.

·      Don't display low self confidence in voice and words.

·      Don't try to dominate the discussion.

·      Don't put others in an embarrassing situation by any means.
